Award winning Neurologist, Steven Laureys joins BeSophro as Head of the Scientific Advisory Board

BeSophro is very excited to share the news that they have recently welcomed a new member to their team. BeSophro is happy to introduce award-winning neurologist and neuroscientist, Steven LaureysMD PhD, who is joining the BeSophro team as our Head of Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr Laureys will join BeSophro’s mission to make the practice of Sophrology easily accessible to all through short and effective practices, deeply rooted in science, that can be done anywhere and anytime.

Blending Eastern wisdom with modern science, Sophrology is a mental wellbeing practice which combines relaxation, breathing, gentle movement, meditation and visualisation to balance body and mind through the nervous system and enhance performance.

He is head of the GIGA Consciousness Research Unit and Brain Clinic of the University Hospital of Liège in Belgium, and a professor at the CERVO Brain Centre at Laval University, Canada.

Professor Laureys has achieved awards from the European Academy of Neurology, the European Academy of Sciences, the German Max Planck Society and the US Society of Cognitive Neuroscience. As well as publishing over 500 scientific articles on the workings of the human mind and is the author of three popular books including his most recent title, The No-nonsense Meditation Book: A Scientist’s Guide To The Power of Meditation.
